"Live with your times, don't fight against them. You will lose",

"Simplicity creates elegance"... Karl Lagerfeld one of the most iconic fashion designers, artists and photographers and most definitely one of the most inspirational people to me. Powered by creativity and energy he never fails to bring a catwalk to life.
As Lagerfeld is the head designer for Fendi, Chanel and his own brand, he always goes one step further to breathe in new life into the original garments to make them unique. One of my favourite quotes from Karl Lagerfeld is that he said he 'doesn't want to fight modern day technology instead he wants to embrace it and bring it to life in his clothing.'
He finds inspiration in what some people would perceive as the craziest ideas, take Chanel Couture Fall 2012, his cat, choupette. The Siamese Cat influenced Lagerfeld to design a soft but not furry, knitted couture bag.
In the 2012 Paris Fashion Week, the sea infact inspired Karl Lagerfeld's collection. "Nothing is more modern than the oldest shape of the history of the world - not of humans. The shapes of the sea are very modern and very inspiring. The shapes of fishes, they are unbelievably modern". Which is so very true, taking a simple idea and turning into something timeless like the maxi skirt and dresses - flowy, cling free just like the sea. Beautiful and full of life.

How about recently at Paris Fashion Week 2014, when Chanel turned itself into a giant supermarket.Filled with endless rows of Chanel- branded pasta, cheeses, sauces, detergents (or the 'coco -flakes) and other daily life products created solely for the occasion. The words, daily life sum up the show and inspiration of Chanel winter Fall 2014. The models presented the new craze of over sized tweed jackets worn over shiny pencil thick trousers completed with flashy trainers. For me the trainers spoke volumes for the show, trainers are a part of everyday life but Lagerfeld is modernizing them to make them more grown up. He has become observant and notices that the trainer or now trainer boots will make everybody feel the same but still retain that sense of elegance and beauty. Karl Lagerfeld describes Chanel as insta fashion which is just amazing, he is keeping a sense of a fashion community - no matter where you are or what your class is you are able to comment, watch and share.
Karl Lagerfeld to me is a true inspiration to fashion.
